Understanding Your Baby’s Health — Before Birth Begins

Fetal screening and diagnosis play a key role in monitoring the health and development of your baby during pregnancy. These specialized scans and evaluations help detect potential complications early, so that timely medical decisions and interventions can be made if needed.

At Dr. Sirisha Reddy’s Center for Fetal Medicine, we offer a range of advanced diagnostic tools that go beyond routine pregnancy care. Our aim is simple yet powerful: to give every baby the healthiest start to life.

These are the key screenings and scans we offer:

Early Pregnancy Scans
To confirm pregnancy viability and detect early complications

This scan is usually done between 6 to 9 weeks of pregnancy. It helps confirm if the pregnancy is located correctly in the uterus, checks for the baby’s heartbeat, and rules out any early concerns such as ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage risk.

Nuchal Translucency (NT) Scan
First-trimester screening for chromosomal abnormalities

Done between 11 to 14 weeks, the NT scan measures the clear space at the back of the baby’s neck. An increased thickness may indicate a higher risk of conditions like Down syndrome. This scan is often combined with a blood test for more accurate risk assessment.

Anomaly Scan (Level II Scan)
Detailed structural evaluation of the fetus

Performed around 18 to 22 weeks of pregnancy, this scan provides a thorough check of the baby’s organs, limbs, spine, and brain. It helps detect major structural abnormalities and gives a clearer picture of fetal growth and well-being.

Fetal Echocardiography
Assessment of fetal heart for congenital defects

If there’s a family history of heart problems or any concern in earlier scans, this specialized ultrasound evaluates the baby’s heart function and structure in detail. Early detection allows better planning and treatment after birth.

3D/4D Ultrasound
High-resolution imaging for enhanced fetal visualization

These advanced ultrasound techniques offer lifelike images of your baby’s movements, facial features, and body. While not essential for medical diagnosis, they provide valuable bonding moments and can sometimes aid in evaluating certain anomalies with greater clarity.

Why Awareness Matters

Many parents are unaware of the importance of these early scans. But fetal medicine is not just about images — it’s about information, decisions, and outcomes. With the right tests at the right time, many complications can be avoided or managed well before birth.

Awareness leads to action. Early detection leads to protection.

At our center, we are committed to helping you understand each step of the journey, so that you can feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout your pregnancy.
