Advanced In-Utero Care — Protecting Life Before Birth

Fetal interventions are specialized procedures performed during pregnancy to treat or manage certain conditions in the baby before birth. These cutting-edge treatments can significantly improve outcomes for both mother and baby, especially in high-risk pregnancies or when life-threatening fetal complications are detected.

At Dr. Sirisha Reddy’s Center for Fetal Medicine, we are proud to offer some of the most advanced in-utero therapies in the region — with a track record of regional firsts and successful outcomes.

Here are the key fetal treatments and procedures we provide:

Fetal Reduction
Reducing high-order multiple pregnancies for better outcomes

When there are more than two fetuses in a pregnancy, the risks to both mother and babies increase. Fetal reduction is a carefully performed procedure that reduces the number of fetuses to optimize survival rates and reduce complications. It is done with compassion, precision, and only after thorough counseling.

Intrauterine Blood Transfusion (IUT)
Treating fetal anemia before birth

In conditions like Rh incompatibility or parvovirus infection, the baby can develop severe anemia in the womb. IUT is a lifesaving procedure where healthy blood is transfused directly to the fetus through the umbilical cord. This restores fetal health and allows the pregnancy to continue safely.

Shunt Placement
Managing fetal hydrothorax or bladder obstruction

In certain conditions, such as fluid accumulation in the fetal chest (hydrothorax) or severe bladder outlet obstruction, a shunt is placed to allow drainage of fluid and relieve pressure. This prevents further organ damage and allows for better lung or kidney development.

Selective Fetal Reduction Using Interstitial Laser
Targeted treatment for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS)

TTTS is a serious condition that affects identical twins sharing a placenta. Using high-precision interstitial laser therapy, we selectively ablate abnormal blood vessels connecting the twins to restore balance and improve survival chances for both babies. Our center is a pioneer in this procedure in the region.

Why This Matters

Fetal interventions are not just medical procedures — they are acts of hope. For families facing complex pregnancies, these advanced treatments provide a chance to save lives, reduce complications, and bring babies into the world healthier and stronger.

At our center, every procedure is guided by expertise, empathy, and the latest scientific advancements. We believe that with timely intervention, many challenges in fetal life can be overcome.

Because every heartbeat deserves a chance.
